The Righteous Mind| Read in 2024

Did not know what to expect with this book. It was pleasantly surprising in many ways. The subtitle alone was enough to intrigue many readers, especially those who enjoy politics. However, this book can be enjoyed by those who do not like politics. It seeks to explain several phenomenons within American politics and religion specifically, but goes beyond that occasionally.  Haidt has several interesting hypothesis that could probably be debated on many a floor. However, it seems that most of his reasoning is sound and brings a lot of great information and mirrors to the table. This is not a book that bashes only one side of the political or religious isle. While it is easy to be biased, Haidt did well in critiquing not just both sides, but all sides. One of the more interesting quotes in the book was that "Intuitions come first, strategic reasoning second." Highly recommend this book.

The 1916 Project by Seth Gruber | Read in 2024

One of the newest and most relevant books ever read by Sideway reads. It documents the oft untold and hidden truth behind Planned Parenthood. While many in the Democrat party call Trump and others in the Republican party "Nazis" or at the very least sympathizers, Planned Parenthood's associations with Nazi Germany are as wide as they are deep. So many pressing social issues today relate and are connected to the murder of babies. It is imperative that everyone give this book an honest look. It is one of those things that you do not want to be in the dark about. Eventually, it is the hope, that abortion will be looked at like slavery is now, for the horrible atrocity that it is.

Fault Lines by Voddie Baucham Jr.| Read in 2024

Another book by Voddie Baucham. He is becoming a favorite! His unique perspective as a black man growing up in LA and other parts of America with a single mother adds great insight to the chaos we see today. He uses not only his real life experience, but also theological points and actual statistics and data to back up what he says. It helps pull back the curtain on what the media may say or try to narrate about the current state of America and social justice. What we hear is often incomplete and misguiding. Definitely recommend this book! It is necessary for the troubles we face today.
